$750,000 in 18 years

Yass Valley Can Assist Branch has reached a major milestone. The branch will, since its inception in 2004, have paid out over $750,000 to assist patients in need. This is a fantastic effort. A tremendous record of which Can Assist is very proud. Thanks to all those volunteers over the years who have worked so hard to get us there.

This milestone was celebrated at our Annual Branch Meeting to which we were very pleased to welcome Can Assist’s Executive Director Emma Phillips, who travelled down from Sydney especially to join in the celebrations. The ABM was followed by a dinner at the Golf Club. There were specially invited guests whose organisations, over the years,  have been great supporters of Can Assist. With over 30 people in attendance,  including our  Yass Mayor, it was a terrific celebratory night and a fun time was had by all.

Yass Roos  AFC  has very generously presented the branch with a cheque for $2,320. Manning the gates at the two finals matches and charging the spectators an entry fee was a great fundraiser. A big thank you to Jenene Furlong and the Yass Roos.

The Binalong Brahmans have chosen to make Yass Valley Can Assist their charity of choice. At their presentation night Geoff and Jean Frost, from Can Assist were very proud to accept a cheque from Ben and Ali Spencer on behalf of the Binalong Brahmans for $5,000. Thank you.

Can Assist held a Street Stall on Saturday 17 September – cakes, biscuits, sweets, books, plants – you name it – something for everyone.  Can Assist also launched our mammoth Spring Raffle major raffle on the same day. We have fantastic prizes including a Royal Doulton Tea set, a wood chip pizza oven and a complete handyman tool kit, a load of wood – all very kindly donated. We look forward to a successful raffle and to raising lots of money to help local people in need.
