Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from this month on the Barton Highway near Yass, as essential bridge maintenance work is carried out.
The work involves replacing the bridge joints on both the northbound and southbound Yass River Twin Bridges, to improve safety and reduce ongoing maintenance.
Repairs will be carried out on the southbound bridge from Monday, May 23 to Wednesday, June 8 and on the northbound bridge from Wednesday, June 15 to Friday, July 1, weather permitting.
During the project each bridge will be alternately closed for repairs to be carried out.
Changed traffic conditions including a reduced speed limit of 40km/h and traffic control will be in place to guide motorists onto the alternate bridge under contraflow for the duration of the project.
Motorists are advised to allow an extra five minutes travel time, to drive to the conditions, following the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
