The Binalong Community Club is hosting a “Dancing with the Locals” gala night fundraising event this Friday the 18th of June.

Tickets cost $90 and include a glass of champagne on arrival, a two plate drop for the main course and dessert, as well as the promise of “one hell of a show”.

The announcement of the event was accompanied by a fairly hilarious video and post on the Binalong Community Club Facebook page, exploring the “dancing fever” spreading through Binalong at the moment.

There are five pairs of dancers who are already rehearsing their three-minute routines:

1.Adrian Priem/ Jan Giles (mother/ son in-law)

2.Graham and Angela Elliot (Newlyweds)

  1. Ali Spencer & Max Giles (brother/sister)

4. Fabia and Margret Atoz (sisters in law)

  1. Lil and Mick Dolcentio (Golden oldies)

The event will be judged by those within the community viewed as the Binalong equivalent to the judges from Dancing with the Stars.

George Elliot (Paul Mercurio)

Lucy Saunders (Helen Miren)

Curly Sykes (Todd McKenny)

The aim of the event is to raise funds for the Binalong Community Club and help keep the doors open, with sponsors coming from Yass, Boorowa, Canberra and Binalong to support the teams.

For every $100 raised, the team earns an extra point towards their score.

Can Assist Harden did a “Dancing with the Locals” event in 2019 which raised $56,424.16, whilst Young held a similar event that year and raised $113,000.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online, with the link available on their Facebook page,  in what promises to be a great celebration of the tight-knit community of Binalong.
