MICHAEL PILBROW CANDIDACY FOR GOULBURN

NSW Labor is today announcing that Yass local Michael Pilbrow will run as the NSW Labor candidate for Goulburn in the NSW State Election due in March 2023.

Michael has lived in the Goulburn electorate for eleven years with his wife Lynne and raised his three children Rebekah, Matthew and Nick there.

Michael is running for the seat of Goulburn because he believes the communities across the Goulburn electorate deserve better, they deserve more paramedics, more permanent teachers and an end to privatisation which has driven up the cost of living.

Career and community involvement:

Michael is the co-owner of local consulting firm, Strategic Development Group and was the President of Yass Valley Business Chamber for three years between 2015 and 2018, when he was also a member of the Yass Valley Economic Development Committee.

Michael’s passion is working to find solutions to improve individuals’ quality of life. He has provided specialist expertise on disaster recovery and resilience in regional NSW and nationally, as well as leading community consultation on issues such as renewable energy, disability inclusion, aged care and affordable housing.

Michael is ingrained in his community in the Goulburn electorate having been the Vice President of Yass High School P&C and volunteering and coaching a soccer team with the Yass Redbacks when his children were younger.

Michael has volunteered for Yass Community Carols since 2014, MCing the event in 2021. He has also served as a volunteer on not-for-profit boards including, Sport Matters, a charity dedicated to using sport to overcome disadvantage and CBM Australia, supporting disability and inclusion in developing countries.

Comment from Chris Minns, NSW Labor Leader:

“I’m thrilled to announce Michael Pilbrow will be the Labor candidate for Goulburn at the next election.

“Michael is a person you want to be representing you in Parliament. He has a long history of serving and working for the betterment of his community and I have no doubt he will be a strong advocate for Goulburn.

“Labor faces an uphill battle in this electorate, but I believe Michael is up for the fight, and will turn up every single day for his community.

Comment from Michael Pilbrow:

“I love this community, and it has been a privilege to serve it for over a decade in various capacities. I’m now asking for the opportunity to serve this community on Macquarie Street because I believe we deserve better, and only a Minns Labor Government can deliver that.

“I’ve seen the challenges with access to healthcare, with finding teachers to teach our kids in the local schools and the challenges with housing affordability.

“But now I want to do more than just see these challenges, I want to do something about solving them.

“I want to work with the community, local groups and across Government to find solutions.

“I know this will be a tough election and I do not take a single vote for granted, but I am running to win this seat, to win Government and help deliver much needed change in our electorate and our state under a Minns Labor Government.
