There are currently over 140 appointments available for women to book their screening mammogram at the BreastScreen NSW mobile clinic until February 18.

The additional appointments were added after a review by BreastScreen NSW Greater Southern into appointment availability across their mobile screening sites.

Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW LHD BreastScreen Director Veronica Scriven said following an unexpected but fantastic response from the women of Yass Valley, BreastScreen NSW facilitated additional appointments between now and February 18.

In NSW one in seven women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime but a mammogram can pick up cancers that cannot be seen or felt.

For women over 40 years old, a mammogram is the most effective method of finding breast cancer early.

The BreastScreen NSW van is located at the Yass Showground (entry via Grand Junction Road).

The service is free for women over 40 and there’s no referral needed. The mobile clinic visiting Yass is equipped with a lift system to support women with health conditions or disabilities to have their mammogram.
