The WMD Group unveiled a new partnership with retirement village company Oak Tree, in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday.

The local developers responsible for the master-planned community of Yarrah have partnered with the Oak Tree Group to bring more independent living options to Yass Valley.

WMD Group Representative Peter Walker spoke to the benefits of gaining an Oak Tree Retirement Village in the region.

“An Oak Tree Retirement Village will not only provide a greater choice of high-quality independent living options but will give the ability for Yass residents to retire and stay within their community rather than being forced to leave due to limited options,” he said.

The WMD Group’s process of bringing more retirement living to the Yass Valley dates back to 2018, in which an independent study found there were 123 people aged 55 and over who had migrated from the area due to lack of appropriate housing options.

The study also predicted a 65% increase in seniors living in the region by the year 2036.

These statistics, coupled with further analysis of the demand for suitable seniors living options in the Yass Valley, led to the partnership with the Oak Tree Group.

“After 12 months working closely with the Oak Tree Group, we are pleased to announce that an Oak Tree Retirement Village is planned to come to Yarrah and Yass,” Mr Walker said.

The Oak Tree Group, prides itself on providing affordable, stylish and secure independent living communities.

Builders, NBN, Yass Valley Council representatives were present along with Yass Valley Property and Oak Tree Group Founding Directors

“With an expanding portfolio of almost 30 villages around Australia over the last 15 years, Oak Tree understands the needs of seniors,” said Mark Bindin, Founding Director of Oak Tree Villages.

Oak Tree lists low-maintenance living, financial upsides and the ability to remain social and retain independence as some of the main reasons Yass Valley senior citizens will love the Oak Tree lifestyle.

The WMD Group’s Yarrah project currently has approval for stage one of development, which will be built off Laidlaw Street, on the northern side of Yass.

With the values of “nature, lifestyle and community” at the forefront of the Yarrah project, the hope will be that the Oak Tree Retirement Village in Yass will provide Yass’s senior citizens with the ability to remain a part of the Yass community, in a safe and affordable way for many years to come.
