NSW Labor Committed to Finishing Barton Highway Duplication

Labor’s Goulburn candidate Michael Pilbrow with Federal Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain.

The Albanese Labor Government have invested $100 million towards stage 1 of the Barton Highway Duplication between Canberra and Murrumbateman.

The Barton Highway is an essential part of the NSW and ACT transport network, connecting communities to essential services, employment, healthcare, education opportunities and supporting freight movement.

The Australian Government and NSW Government have together committed $200 million towards the upgrade of the Barton Highway.

This funding is being used across two projects along the corridor, with Stage 1 already under construction (the Barton Highway Upgrade Package), and Stage 2 in planning (the Barton Highway Corridor Upgrade).

This work will improve road safety while enhancing tourism, driving economic growth and creating vibrant regional spaces.

Eden Monaro’s Kristy McBain joined NSW Candidate for Goulburn Michael Pilbrow in Murrumbateman in the lead up to the state election on March 25 today.

Pilbrow said it was critical that the Labor government finalises the duplication for the people of the Yass Valley.

“The Barton Highway has been such a big issue for the people of the Yass Valley for so many years,”

“It’s so exciting that the Federal Labor Government is delivering on the first stages from the ACT border.

“If I’m elected as the Member for Goulburn as part as a Minns Labor Government, I’m so looking forward to working with the Federal Government to deliver the rest of the Barton Highway duplication for everyone and particularly Murrumbateman.

“The Barton Highway duplication is a crucial project for our region. An elected Minns Labor Government will work with the Federal Government to ensure that thus vital project is delivered.”
