With the summer holidays underway, you may already be searching for a few ideas to help keep the kids active. Yass has a range of activities which can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors to help you make the most out of the summer break.

The Library is currently closed but will reopen Monday, January the 4th in 2021 and will restart sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays during the holidays starting at 11 am. Planned activities will include calendar making, sand art, decorating emu eggs, and even an Australia Day Concert on the 25th where you can make your own tambourine.

Bookings are essential for all library sessions in this post-COVID-19 world as spaces are limited. The Yass Library offers a great indoor experience out of the sun for children and parents to enjoy. However, if you are more inclined to outdoor and sporting activities, there are plenty of things children can do.

Tennis at the Hume Tennis Club will feature a Summer Tennis Clinic – Future Stars held on the 18th to January the 22nd. The clinic will have qualified tennis coaches and be separated into different age groups. Mini pros will be from 8 am to 10 am for four to seven-year-olds. Advanced pros are 10 am-3 pm for eight to sixteen-year-olds.

Prices will be $25 per day for Mini pros while Advanced pros will be $45 per day with discounted options available for spending the whole five days at the clinic. Registrations for the clinic close on January the 15th and you can sign up on Spinifex’s Facebook page or contact Scott Eulenstein on 0421 016 356.

Tennis is a great way to get active outdoors and provides solo and teamwork experiences. Spinifex is an approved active kids provider and holds coaching sessions along with access to a mobile pro shop for all your tennis needs.

Finally, for those of you who want to be outdoors and active but do not want to get hot and bothered, the Yass Memorial swimming pool is the perfect option.

The pool will be holding swimming lessons at the beginning of January on Mondays the 4th, 11th and 18th. Learning to swim is a vital skill for children because it builds confidence around water and provides fun and exercise in the heat.

The Staff at Yass Memorial Pool state they have a great family atmosphere and the pool is a great place!

With a range of pricing options from one-time entry to season passes aimed at children, adults, pensioners or whole families, the pool provides an excellent service to the Yass community.
