With the representative squad competing in a carnival on the weekend in Cowra and the Tuesday night open and Friday night juniors playing their round three fixture this week, winter Netball in Yass is very much underway.
The Yass junior representative team played in some very wet conditions before being cancelled on the weekend, but the President of the Yass Netball Association, Aimee Burden, said they did “amazing”.
The Yass open representative team were also pleased with their result and were certainly feeling lucky to be on the indoor courts.
As for the weekly competition at the Norm Keogh Netball Courts here in Yass, there has been a great turnout of teams for the winter season.
“This year, we’ve had the largest open division for a while for the winter competition.”
“Juniors have also had good numbers,” said Aimee.
The open division for Tuesday nights has 9 teams with the following results last week:
– 8th Wheel defeated Diamonds in the Kough (43-17)
– Weiros defeated Drama Queens (19-17)
– Green Geckos defeated Allstars (17-8)
– Jesters defeated Muzmosa (52-3)
The junior division on Friday nights currently has 15 teams, whilst the “Net Set Go” development program is also going well.
The winter season will run up until August, with plenty more representative carnivals to come.
It’s an exciting time to be a netballer in Yass.
