Yass Valley remembers with ANZAC services today – here’s where

Where to Attend ANZAC Day Services Around the Yass Valley and ACT

This morning, April 25th, ANZAC Day services and ceremonies will be taking place right across the Yass Valley. 

Below is where to attend various services in different towns throughout the region, to pay respects for the fallen servicemen and women who paved the way for the beautiful country of Australia that we know today. 

Yass:

Yass will host their ANZAC Day Dawn Service at 6am at the Yass Soldiers’ Memorial Hall on Comur Street, which will run until 7am.

They will then host an ANZAC Day March and Day Service from 10:30am to 11:45am, which will also take place in front of the Yass Soldiers’ Memorial Hall. 

Murrumbateman:

Murrumbateman will host a morning ANZAC Day Service which will begin at 9:30am at Jones Park.

Yass RSL Sub-Branch Vice President Alex Schultz-Altmann will be the Master of Ceremonies. Guest Commodore Andrew Quinn RAN will be the guest speaker. 

The ANZAC Day service will be followed by morning tea at the Murrumbateman Country Inn.

The service is being coordinated by the Murrumbateman Lions Club.

Wee Jasper

Wee Jasper Bridge muster point. March steps off at 9:45am. March concludes at the Wee Jasper Community Hall and War Memorial where a service will commence including wreath laying and The Last Post

Bowning: 

Bowning will be hosting a Dawn Service at 6am at the Bowning War Memorial on Short Street for ANZAC Day. 

The Service will be followed by a barbecue breakfast.

Gundaroo:

Gundaroo will host a Dawn Service at 5:30am at the Gundaroo War Memorial on Cork Street for ANZAC Day.

Sutton:

Sutton will be hosting their Dawn Service from 5:45am at the Sutton Memorial Gates outside Sutton Public School on Victoria Street. 

Binalong: 

Binalong will be conducting an ANZAC Day March from Binalong Memorial Garden on the corner of Fitzroy and Wellington Streets from 10:15am.

Gunning: 

Gunning will be hosting a Dawn Service at 5:45am at the Showgrounds near the Shire Hall followed by Gunfire Breakfast.

They will then be hosting a Veterans March at 10:40am.

A Day Service will commence at 11:00am at the Gunning Cenotaph on Warrataw Street.

Gunning will also host members of Australia’s Federation Guard as a Catafalque Party.

Canberra: 

Canberra will be hosting their well renowned ANZAC Day Dawn Service at 5:30am at the Australian War Memorial at Captain Reg Saunders Courtyard and Sculpture Garden.

The ACT Branch of the RSL will conduct the veteran’s march through the western grounds of the Memorial. Following the march, the Anzac Day address to the nation will conclude the morning’s commemorations.
