The Yass Vine Church hospitality team is hosting a morning high tea to raise money for cancer research and support those that have been affected by cancer on Saturday, May 7 from 10am to 2pm.
The fundraiser is open to everyone, and all food will be provided by the church, just turn up and be ready to share delicious food and friendly company. There is an enclosed play area for children, so families are welcome.
All money raised will directly go to the Cancer Council and donations are welcome either on the day or online. You can find the donation link on the Yass Vine Church Facebook page.
New kitchen and events co-leader Maddie Burrell said, “All the money that we raised will go straight to the Cancer Council directly.
“We would love everybody to give a donation, we’ve got a goal of $1,000, which puts us into the royalty member club.”
Although the temperature will start to drop soon the event is inside in the spacious main hall of the church.
“The sun hits the side of the church really nicely with a little outdoor area there as well. So it should actually be a nice day,” Maddie said. “We would really love to have a big crowd there.”
“I work as a doctor and I see a lot of people with cancer and those affected by cancer,” she said. “I help the families, as well as the patient that goes through it, and as the Cancer Council says on their website, one in two Australians before the age of 85 will be affected by cancer.”
Maddie said the Cancer Council is a well-rounded charity to support as it provides a variety of aid in addition to research.
